Hodges Gardens Celebrates Reopening
Published Jun 27, 2008

Treat your senses – especially sight and smell – to an interesting day of horticulture appreciation at Hodges Gardens State Park.
Oil businessman A.J. Hodges Sr. originally opened the 900-acre scenic refuge in Florien in 1956. He saw potential in developing an abandoned sandstone quarry into a park.
In 2007, the Louisiana Department of Culture, Recreation & Tourism and the Office of State Parks acquired the property and renovated the facility. Attractions include a visitor center, walking trails, formal gardens and waterfalls, and the park also offers overnight accommodations with campsites and cabins.
